
Below is a list of various clubs, activities, and extra-curricular opportunities for Mountain View students. Please contact the specific club advisor for additional information and specifics.
CLUB BUS: The bus runs Monday through Thursday for students staying for a school sponsored activity, ie: club or tutoring. The Club Bus arrives by 4:45pm, once the previously signed up students are all accounted for the bus will depart. This bus drives the students to their houses.
CLUB BUS Riders will provide the following contact information upon signing up - name, grade, activity attending, home address and parent/guardian telephone number.
Students must sign up for the Club Bus each day by 11:00am. To sign up, students will scan a QR Code with their smart phone or use their laptop in homeroom each day. Any student who forgets to sign up in homeroom can still sign up, as long as they complete the process before 11:00am. BOARD GAME CLUB
The Board Game Club is for students who enjoying playing a variety of board, card, and party games. No electronic or video games. Two staff members volunteer to supervise and play with the students. The club is held on every Wednesday, from 3:30-4:30pm, in the Learning Commons. It will run from January through Spring Break.

CREATIVE ARTS CLUB
The Creative Arts Club is for all 6th, 7th and 8th grade students who are interested in any type of creativity and wish to connect with others who have similar interests. This is a fluid club in which meetings are not mandatory and student may attend whenever they can. Every month is a new craft or skill will be offered. The club meets every first and third Wednesday of every month from 3:30-4:30pm. Watch for upcoming club dates and crafts on the sign outside the Resource Officer's office.

CA - FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN AMBASSADORS
FCA meets on Tuesday afternoons until 4:30pm in room 154. New students are welcome to join at any time during the school year. The FCA digs deeper into our faith, discussing Bible passages, praying and encouraging one another.

GSA - GAY STRAIGHT ALLIANCE CLUB
Our mission is to work toward a more accepting environment for all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, through education, support, social action and advocacy. The GSA welcomes lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons, questioning youth, and their straight allies. GSA's main focus is a club to provide a safe & welcoming environment for all students. The club meets twice a month before Period 1.

GIRLS WHO CODE CLUB
This club is for 6th-12th grade students teaches the basics of coding, programming, designing webpages, creating games and more. The club has students collaborate to solve real-world problems involving computer science, has guest speakers in the STEM field, increases equity in STEM Education, and has college and career planning meetings for any interested members. There is no prior experience needed to join the club! All meetings will be on Zoom and will occur every other Wednesday between 5:30-6:30pm. MAKE THE MARK
Make the Mark provides students with a quiet, educational environment to complete their assignments with support from volunteer tutors. This program helps students who are struggling with their academics and who need assistance with their homework.
What is MtM?
MtM is the Homework After School Program. Mountain View staff volunteer to supervise.
The program operates Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-4:30pm, October to December.
The CVSD provides a club bus to transport the student's home.
Program Location - At Mountain View Middle School, HASP operates in the Instructional Materials Center (IMC or the Library). Tables allow room for students to spread out and work comfortably. Computers and reference materials are also available. The IMC lends itself well to being the perfect place to study quietly.

MATH 24
Math 24 is a game where students use mental math to create the number 24. Use the 4 numbers on the card, without repetition, to make the number 24 using addition, subtraction, and/or division. Students will practice after school on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30pm. Math 24 will start in February. There will be an in-house competition in the spring to identify the competing players in this year's competition at the IU.

MATHCOUNTS
MathCounts gives students an opportunity to expand their mathematical knowledge while working with others who enjoy math. The activity is open to all middle school student, though we focus primarily on problems from Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra 2. Samples of the problems can be viewed at www.mathcounts.org. We meet the 1st & 3rd Wednesday from 7:30-8:10am and Zoom the 2nd & 4th Wednesdays from 4:15-4:45pm, September through December. Ten students will be selected to represent Mountain View at our regional MathCounts competition which is typically held on a Saturday in February at Penn State Harrisburg.

MOUNTAIN VIEW'S BEL CANTO
Mountain View's Bel Canto is an auditioned ensemble for students looking to take their singing to the next level. This group is open to students in 7th and 8th grade and meets after school once a week. Students must be enrolled in their grade level choral ensemble in order to be eligible for Bel Canto. Students in 6th grade will have the opportunity to audition for this group at the end of their 6th grade year. Rehearsal etiquette from previous years of singing will also be taken into consideration. Mountain View's Bel Canto performs at both choral concerts as well as events in the community when requested.

MOUNTAIN VIEW PRESS
The Mountain View Press is a student run newspaper club that posts a newspaper every other week. The purpose is to keep the student body informed on school events and also important matters in the community and/or world. A newspaper will be produced every two weeks.

MOUNTAIN VIEW MUSICAL
Students
interested in the Mountain View Musical will audition in December with 3
shows in March. Students will audition for either the chorus or a
principal lead in the musical. Rehearsals will take place after school starting at 3:40pm and require a previously arranged ride home at the end of rehearsal.

PRISM
Mountain
View’s PRISM STEM Club is run by CV High School students. This club was designed to
focus on encouraging girls from a younger age so they are well equipped to face
the reality and challenge of being underrepresented in the STEM Community. The Club discovers STEM careers, participates in activities and holds a career fair at
the end of the year. Meetings will be held two Tuesdays every month after school starting in late September in room 213.

JAZZ BAND
The Mountain View Jazz Band is a select ensemble including students from grades 6, 7 and 8. Members audition in October and rehearse after school weekly between November and May. Attendance is required at all rehearsals and performances. Students participating in other activities must be responsible in communicating and planning with their coach, director, teacher, etc. so that they are available for weekly rehearsal and all spring performances.

SCIENCE OLYMPIAD
For
the past 33 years, Science Olympiad has led a revolution in science
education. What began as a grassroots assembly of science teachers is
now one of the premier science competitions in the nation, providing
rigorous, standards-based challenges to 7,600 teams in 50 states.
Science Olympiad's ever-changing line-up of events in all STEM
disciplines exposes student to practicing scientists and career choices,
and energizes classroom teachers with a dynamic content experience.
The events change each year with new challenges created all the time.
Each
year a team goes and competes at the regional competition with the
chance of qualifying for the state competition. If they place first or
second at the state competition they qualify to go onto the national
competition. These events will challenge all middle school student and
require many hours of study outside of school. All 6th, 7th and 8th
graders can qualify to compete in the B division. The team is made up
of 15 students that will compete in around 23 events.
The group meets on every other Wednesday. Dates are listed on the advisor's website.

SOARING STRING ENSEMBLE
SOARING is an advanced string ensemble open to students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades by audition. Rehearsals occur after school weekly and attendance is required at all rehearsals and performances. Students perform a wide variety of musical styles and genres and will rehearse from October to May.

TECHNOLOGY STUDENT ASSOCIATION (TSA)
The TSA Club develops skills in science, engineering, mathematics and business. This club provides students with the opportunity to compete against other schools at both the regional and state levels while having fun building team work. Competitions range from video game designing, coding, digital photography, engineering design and more.

YEARBOOK CLUB

- The MV Yearbook Club meets every Wednesday, from 3:30-4:30pm, in room 249. Interested students should fill out an application in early September. Meetings typically begin late September/early October. Club members take photos for the yearbook and help design individual pages.
